Language Curriculum
How do children develop their language skills?
My Montessori provides a carefully thought-out program to facilitate language development
that includes hands-on activities. Our program allow each child to learn
at their own pace in our bright and beautiful classrooms. We believe that
young children follow a very distinguishable pattern as their language
develops. Our highly trained and skilled teachers foster each child’s
learning by introducing the child to a variety of activities such as songs,
games, poems, stories, and classified language cards. These activities
help each child to develop and refine the oral language skills acquired at birth.
At My Montessori, children’s language is developed in part by:
- First, being introduced to letters by listening to the sound each letter
makes while tracing the textured surface of sandpaper letters - Identifying the initial sounds in words and matching them
- Handling something concrete, such as wooden letters, which aids to word
composition and reproducing and blending letter sounds to create phrases,
sentences, and stories
