Integrating Nature into Learning
My Montessori’s unique nature program was developed around the natural
seasons and habitats surrounding the school itself. We believe that spending
time in nature is an incredibly important part of a child’s health
and motor development and can inspire curiosity, creativity, and a sense
of freedom, imagination, and exploration. Each week the children at
My Montessori join the
Naturalist-in-Residence in seasonal explorations by observing the schoolyard habitats, plants,
and animals that can be found.
We also offer weekly explorations that might include age appropriate activities such as:
- Field studies of schoolyard habitats
- Planting and harvesting in the garden
- Meeting native wildlife in the classroom
- Other hands-on activities
Our Goal at My Montessori
Our goal at My Montessori is to deepen each child’s knowledge and appreciation
of nature as we introduce them to our native habitat and natural wildlife.
